Containers, new buildings and renovations for the start of the new school year
During the summer holidays, things are anything but quiet at many schools in the Groß-Gerau district . The district is using the time off from classes to implement numerous construction, renovation, and modernization projects. The goal is to create optimal conditions for students and teachers in time for the start of the school year on August 10th
In addition to renovations, repairs and minor alterations, additional classrooms are also being created to respond to increasing student numbers and the expansion of all-day schooling.
New container facilities create additional classrooms
At several schools, existing container facilities were expanded or new ones were built. The district is investing a total of approximately €1.83 million.
The following schools will receive additional rooms:
- Nibelungenschule Biebesheim: Construction of a new two-story container building with two classrooms.
- Martin-Niemöller-School Riedstadt-Goddelau: Expansion by seven classrooms.
- Gernsheim Gymnasium: Expansion of the existing container complex by four classrooms.
- Mittelstufengymnasium Nord in Groß-Gerau: Four additional classrooms through an extension.
- Goethe School Groß-Gerau: Expansion to include a classroom, a differentiation room, a library and additional workspaces.
New building and new cafeteria
At the start of the school year, the new building of the Ahornschule in Büttelborn-Worfelden will also begin operation.
A temporary cafeteria with a kitchen and dining area for 100 students is currently being built at the Albert Schweitzer School in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg . Completion is scheduled for November and will ensure lunch service for the school's full-day program
LED lighting for the sports hall
The sports hall at Prälat-Diehl-Schule I in Groß-Gerau is also being modernized. The existing lighting is being converted to energy-saving LED technology. This project is being carried out as part of a funding program from the National Climate Initiative.
District Administrator Thomas Will thanks the building management staff for their efforts during the holidays. The goal is to offer all students and staff at the schools the best possible learning and working conditions at the start of the new school year.
