The #nocompliment campaign takes a stand against sexual harassment in public spaces
The city of Griesheim is participating in the nationwide day of action against catcalling on June 12th and is sending a message against sexual harassment in public spaces with the #keinKompliment campaign.
The campaign draws attention to the fact that seemingly friendly or flattering remarks are not perceived as compliments if they cross personal boundaries, are disrespectful, or are perceived as intrusive.
Focus on raising awareness and providing support
The campaign was initiated by Natalia Herold, the women's representative of the city of Griesheim. Its aim is to raise awareness of the issue, especially among young women, to empower them, and at the same time to make existing support services more visible.
The campaign aims to raise awareness that catcalling and other forms of verbal harassment can be distressing for those affected and should not be considered harmless.
Support from city administration and school social work
The campaign is supported by Mayor Geza Krebs-Wetzl and Björn Hahn, who is participating in the campaign on behalf of the school social work department of the Gerhart-Hauptmann-School.
With its participation, the city of Griesheim underlines its commitment to respectful coexistence and to the empowerment of women and girls in public spaces.
A clear message against crossing boundaries
The hashtag #nocompliment aims to highlight that respect and mutual consideration are the foundation of a safe and appreciative society. The campaign seeks to make boundary violations visible and encourage those affected to take their experiences seriously.
