The visitor center on Mathildenhöhe will reopen on September 12th at Alexandraweg – special guided tours on Open Monument Day
The Mathildenhöhe information point is moving back to the Glückert House. From Saturday, September 12, 2026, the visitor information center for the UNESCO World Heritage Site will once again be located at Alexandraweg 23. The following day, for Open Monument Day, several guided tours of the historic building will be offered.
The information point was located at a site on Olbrichweg during the summer. In the future, it will be open Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Glückert building .
During these times, the mobile exhibition on the ground floor, which provides information about the history of the house, is also accessible. Access to the Glückert House is not step-free.
Special guided tours on Open Monument Day
On Sunday, September 13th, the Glückert Grand House will also be the focus of the Open Monument Day. The guided tour "The Glückert Grand House: Living Spaces of the Turn of the Century" will explore the history of the building and its restoration from 2020 to 2023.
Guided tours start at 11:00, 13:00, and 16:30 and each lasts 90 minutes. The meeting point is in front of the Glückert House on Alexandraweg. Tickets cost €14.50, concessions €11, and are only available in advance.
Also on September 13th, admission to the Darmstadt Artists' Colony Museum and the Mathildenhöhe exhibition building is free. The exhibition "A Step Ahead – 125 Years of Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt" is currently on display there.
The information point offers information and tickets
In the Glückert House, visitors can obtain information about the UNESCO World Heritage Site Mathildenhöhe as well as tickets for guided tours of the grounds and through the anniversary exhibition.
The Mathildenhöhe Card is also available there. The day ticket costs 15 euros per person and includes use of public transport within Darmstadt's city limits in fare zone 4000, as well as admission to the "A Step Ahead" exhibition, the Artists' Colony Museum, and the Wedding Tower.
Regular guided tours on the Mathildenhöhe
Public guided tours of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Mathildenhöhe take on Saturdays and Sundays at 11:00, 14:00, and 15:00 . The tour lasts 90 minutes and begins at the north entrance of the Museum Künstlerkolonie (Artists' Colony Museum), Olbrichweg 13a. The cost is €14.50, or €11 for concessions. The 14:00 tour on Saturdays is also offered in English.
of the exhibition “A Step Ahead – 125 Years of Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt”, which runs until January 31, 2027, are offered on Saturdays at 3 pm and Sundays at 12 pm. The tours last 60 minutes and cost €13 (€11 for concessions), including exhibition admission.
The Artists' Colony Museum offers a public guided tour every Sunday at 1 p.m. No registration is required. The museum entrance fee is five euros (three euros for concessions), plus three euros for the tour.
For the other public tours, prior registration is required. Information and tickets are available from Darmstadt Tourism.
