Bundesliga-experienced winger moves from SC Freiburg to Darmstadt 98
SV Darmstadt 98 has strengthened its attack for the upcoming season. Noah Weißhaupt is transferring from SC Freiburg to the Böllenfalltor stadium and will wear the Lilies' jersey. The 24-year-old winger will wear the number 7 shirt in Darmstadt.
Flexible reinforcement for the offense
“With Noah, we are getting a dynamic player who can be used flexibly, especially on the wings. He received excellent tactical and technical training in Freiburg and possesses high speed and great game intelligence,” explains Darmstadt's sporting director Paul Fernie.
The club is convinced that Weißhaupt, with his qualities, can play an important role in the team.
The new signing is also looking forward to his new role: "I immediately had a good feeling during the talks with the management and I'm sure that I'm a great fit for Darmstadt's style of play. I followed Darmstadt closely, especially last season, and I'm happy to now be part of this club."
More than 70 Bundesliga appearances
Weißhaupt was trained in the youth academy of SC Freiburg. The Rostock native made his Bundesliga debut at the age of 18. The right-footed player made a total of 74 appearances in Germany's top flight, 55 of them for SC Freiburg.
During the second half of the 2024/25 season, Weißhaupt was loaned to FC St. Pauli, where he made 19 competitive appearances. Last season, he also gained international experience playing for Legia Warsaw in the Polish Ekstraklasa before joining Hannover 96 for the second half of the season.
Experience in the DFB youth teams
The attacking player also gained experience at the international level. Weißhaupt played a total of eleven international matches for the German U18, U20 and U21 national teams.
With the signing of the versatile winger, Darmstadt 98 continue their squad planning for the new season. It was particularly important to the new arrival to be able to participate in pre-season training with the team from the very beginning. Training at SV Darmstadt 98 will begin at the end of June.
