Children from Reinheim gain exciting insights into everyday police work
The preschool children from a Reinheim institution recently took a special field trip to the police station in Ober-Ramstadt. There, the boys and girls gained a varied insight into the work of the police and were able to get a close look at numerous areas of the station.
The children toured the emergency call center with great curiosity and learned how incoming emergency calls are handled. The police officers explained their duties in an age-appropriate way and described how they ensure safety and order every day.
Many questions for the police
The young visitors took the opportunity to ask numerous questions. The officers took the time to explain the work of the police in an understandable way and to present various areas of operation.
The children were particularly interested in the equipment of a police officer. They were able to look at various pieces of equipment and learned when these are used in the line of duty.
Prison cell and police car as highlights
One of the highlights of the visit was a look inside the police station's holding cell. The equipment there particularly amazed the children.
Finally, the preschool children were allowed to view an emergency vehicle with flashing blue lights up close.
Strengthening trust in the police
Mayor Manuel Feick welcomed the initiative and emphasized its importance for early encounters with important social institutions.
“Such visits are a wonderful opportunity to instill in children an early trust in the work of the police. The children were able to experience how diverse and important the tasks of the police are for our society,” explained Feick.
The trip vividly conveyed important impressions of safety, help and social cohesion to the children and, according to the organizers, will remain in their memories for a long time.
