Events promoting equality for people with disabilities
To mark the European Day of Protest for the Equality of People with Disabilities, two public events will take place in Riedstadt. The aim is to raise awareness of the rights and lived realities of people with disabilities.
Exhibition on the town hall square
On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 6 p.m., the banner exhibition "Human Rights Are Non-Negotiable" will open in the town hall square. The exhibition showcases artwork by people with disabilities, including pieces from the "Querstrich" studio of Vitos Teilhabe in Riedstadt.
The central location in front of the town hall was deliberately chosen to increase visibility in the public space. After its launch in Riedstadt, the exhibition will also be shown at other locations in the Groß-Gerau district.

Reading show for children and families
On Saturday, May 9, 2026, another event will take place: Children's book author Henrick Clausing will present his reading show "Unique! – Living with a Disability" at 10:30 a.m. in the "Brienne-le-Château" hall in the town hall.
In his book of the same name, Clausing addresses topics such as inclusion, participation, and the everyday lives of families with disabilities. The event is aimed particularly at primary school children and their families, conveying information in an understandable and empathetic way.
Admission is free, but registration is recommended.
Broad alliance involved
The events are organized by the city's cultural office and disability officer in cooperation with numerous partners, including Lebenshilfe Kreisvereinigung Groß-Gerau and the Nieder-Ramstädter Diakonie Foundation.
