Open service for people with mental illnesses in Darmstadt
The Saturday meeting of the Darmstadt Community Psychiatric Center offers people with mental health conditions the opportunity to spend time together regularly. This open meeting takes place every second and fourth Saturday of the month from 2 pm to 5 pm at the Caritas Center at Wilhelminenplatz 7. New visitors are always welcome.
Over coffee and cake, guests can play games, chat, or simply spend time together. Whether it's Yahtzee, Rummikub, a puzzle, or a conversation – everyone can shape the afternoon according to their own preferences.
“Many people experience loneliness particularly intensely on weekends. The Saturday meeting offers the opportunity to get out of their own four walls, experience community and make new contacts,” says Janina Helm, head of the Darmstadt Community Psychiatric Center.
A place of encounter for more than 30 years
This service is aimed at people with mental health conditions from Darmstadt and the surrounding towns and municipalities such as Arheilgen, Weiterstadt, Griesheim, and Eberstadt. Registration is not required. People who have not previously had contact with Caritas are also welcome to attend.
For more than 30 years, the Saturday meeting has been run by volunteers. The focus is on meeting, exchanging ideas and community – not on the illness.

The Saturday meeting takes place at the Caritas Center Darmstadt at Wilhelminenplatz 7 on July 25, August 8 and 22, September 12 and 26, October 10 and 24, November 14 and 28, and December 12, each day from 2 pm to 5 pm.
