Conference in Groß-Gerau calls for more networking and reliable funding
How families with young children can be better supported was the focus of the first joint conference of the Early Intervention Network of the city of Rüsselsheim am Main and the district of Groß-Gerau. Around 40 professionals from counseling centers, daycare centers, youth services, healthcare, and administrative bodies met at the district administration office for the event.
Under the motto "Strong Together in Early Intervention Services," participants exchanged information about their work and the collaboration between the various institutions. It became clear that the diverse services and responsibilities within the network are often not sufficiently known.
A key outcome of the conference: Personal contacts, transparency and a better understanding of the different tasks are considered the most important prerequisites for successful collaboration.
Greater transparency and better networking
Among the challenges cited by the experts were bureaucratic hurdles, structural constraints, and a lack of transparency. From this, they derived three key objectives for future networking efforts: creating transparency, strengthening networking, and facilitating collaboration.
Appeal for reliable financing
The professionals also used the conference to highlight the importance of early intervention services. These services are aimed at pregnant women, expectant parents, and families with children up to the age of three, and are designed to provide support at an early stage.
According to the network, demand is rising steadily. Population growth and longer waiting lists make it clear that existing services are increasingly reaching their limits in terms of demand. Therefore, the participants advocate for reliable, long-term, and needs-based funding.
In their view, early intervention can strengthen families and at the same time help to avoid later and significantly more costly support measures.
