Walks, dancing and guided tours for people aged 65 and over
The science city of Darmstadt will once again offer a diverse program for senior citizens in May 2026. The events are aimed at citizens aged 65 and over and include cultural activities, exercise, and social opportunities.
Literary walk and hike
The opening event on May 7th will be a literary walk through the Rosenhöhe park in Darmstadt. The walk will focus on novels and the history of the park.
On May 13th, there will be a beer garden hike to the Grohe brewery. The meeting point is at Luisenplatz, and the event will last approximately two hours.
Dance afternoons in Eberstadt and Kranichstein
On May 21st, there will be dancing to live music in the Ernst-Ludwig-Saal in Eberstadt. A day later, on May 22nd, another afternoon of dancing will take place in the Bürgersaal of the Luise-Büchner-Haus in Kranichstein.
Both events offer coffee and cake in addition to music. Admission is €4.20 for each.
A look behind the scenes at the sewage treatment plant
On May 27th, those interested will have the opportunity to visit the Darmstadt central wastewater treatment plant. The guided tour provides insights into wastewater treatment and lasts approximately one and a half hours.
Participation and registration
Most events are free of charge. However, prior registration is required for some events: sub-programm@darmstadt.de. The two dance events are exceptions.
The program thus offers diverse opportunities for encounters, exercise and new impressions in everyday life.
