Ten young athletes will represent the city at the International Children's Games in Taiwan
The science city of Darmstadt is once again sending a team to the International Children's Games (ICG) . From August 1st to 6th , ten young athletes will represent the city at the international school games in Hualien , Taiwan. More than 1,000 participants from 64 cities are expected at the event .
Four swimmers and six track and field athletes from Darmstadt will be competing. They qualified for participation based on their performances last year.

The team is accompanied by coaches Chantal Noe (swimming) and Jonathan Lang (athletics). Team management is handled by Felix Gerbig, a teacher and coach at the Georg Büchner School.
Sport and international exchange
Besides the competitions, the International Children's Games primarily focus on the exchange between young people from all over the world and getting to know other cultures. After the competitions, the Darmstadt delegation will travel on to Taipei.
The ICG General Assembly is taking place concurrently with the Games. Mayor Hanno Benz will represent the City of Darmstadt there. Darmstadt is nominating Markus Hoschek, a long-time member of the HEAG board, to succeed Mayor Barbara Akdeniz on the International Children's Games Committee .
