Science City tests its warning systems on June 12 – What to do in case of an alarm
On Thursday, June 12, 2025, the city of Darmstadt will conduct a citywide test alarm . The aim of the test is to check all sirens and warning systems, including the NINA and hessenWARN. This test complements the statewide warning day in the spring and the nationwide warning day in the fall and serves as a technical function check at the municipal level.
This is how the test alarm works
- 11:00 AM: One-minute continuous tone with two interruptions – used to alert the fire department in case of emergency.
- 11:05 a.m.: One-minute rising and falling siren tone – means “warning of the population”.
- 11:10 a.m.: One-minute continuous tone – signifies “all clear”.
Behavior in case of a warning signal
In case of emergency, the following should be observed:
- Immediately seek enclosed spaces
- Close doors and windows
- Turn on the radio and listen for announcements
- Inform your neighbors
- Track alerts via warning apps
- Switch off ventilation and air conditioning systems
The warning and all-clear will be communicated simultaneously via all available warning systems, especially via warning apps.
