District administrators and mayors meet for their annual expert discussion
As the Darmstadt Regional Council reports, Regional President Jan Hilligardt invited representatives of the southern Hessian municipalities to a specialist discussion on Wednesday.
District administrators, mayors, and senior managers from the Darmstadt Regional Council participated in the annual exchange at the regional government offices. Topics included civil defense, noise action planning, air pollution control planning, and current developments in the mining and mining supervision sectors.
Exchange on municipal and security issues
The nationwide player exclusion system OASIS, operated by the regional government, was also part of the discussions. Furthermore, the requirements for municipalities in the area of civil defense were addressed.
“It is very important to me to maintain a continuous dialogue with the decision-makers in our region,” explained Regional President Hilligardt. He added that close cooperation between the state and local levels is particularly important given the numerous shared issues.
Regional plan and skilled workers in focus
Other topics included the next steps for the new regional plan for southern Hesse and the regional land use plan, the planned "fast lane" for international skilled workers, and the current status of budget approvals for 2026.
The Darmstadt administrative district comprises ten rural districts, five independent cities, and two cities with special status. Approximately two-thirds of all people in Hesse live there.
