Four outstanding buildings can be visited on a guided tour
To mark this year's Day of Architecture, the Association of German Architects (BDA) Darmstadt is organizing a special bicycle tour through Darmstadt on Saturday, June 27, 2026. The "Urban Ride" tour will visit four outstanding buildings, which will be presented by the participating architectural firms or users. The approximately 20-kilometer tour offers participants a rare opportunity to experience contemporary architecture and building culture up close.
The meeting point is at 9:45 a.m. on the steps of the main entrance of the State Theatre on Georg-Büchner-Platz. Alternatively, it is possible to join at 10:30 a.m. at the "Kinderinsel" daycare center in Darmstadt-Eberstadt. The tour is scheduled to end around 4:00 p.m. , with a lunch break planned.
The stops include the "Kinderinsel" daycare center, the "Höfe voller Leben" housing project in the Ludwigshöhe district, the Darmstadt art depot , and the Merck Learning Center. Participation is limited to 25 people and is only possible with prior registration.
Architecture Day takes place nationwide every year on the last weekend in June and invites people to discover buildings, spaces, and projects that are often not otherwise open to the public. The aim of the event is to spark interest in architecture, urban development, and building culture, as well as to promote exchange between planners, developers, and visitors.
