A church service and celebratory concert mark the rededication after renovation
The extensively refurbished Winterhalter organ in St. Ludwig will be ceremonially rededicated in May 2026.
Since January, the symphonic organ has undergone a fundamental overhaul. In addition to cleaning the pipework, careful innovations have been implemented, opening up additional tonal possibilities.
Gala concert at Pentecost
The first concert after the renovation will take place on Pentecost Sunday, May 24th, at 5 pm. Under the title "Veni Creator Spiritus," Dr. Markus Uhl, who became professor of organ at the Cologne University of Music and Dance this year, will be performing.
The program includes works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Nicolas de Grigny, Louis Vierne and György Ligeti, as well as improvisations.
György Ligeti's "Volumina" is one of the most important works of modern organ music.
Introduction and meeting
Markus Uhl and Jorin Sandau will give an introduction to music and instruments at 4:30 pm.
Following the concert, visitors are invited to a glass of "organ wine".
Admission is free. Donations for the "ORGAN REVISION" project are welcome.
