Project in Groß-Gerau strengthens language and self-confidence
At the Anne Frank Youth Center in Groß-Gerau, everything is currently revolving around the topic of radio. As part of the "We Make Radio!" project, students from the Martin Buber School are producing their own program for Radio Rüsselsheim.
Young people from different countries are involved
Eleven young people from a German as a Second Language class are participating in the project. The students come from countries including Ethiopia, Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, and Ukraine.
During the project week from May 4th to 8th, the participants first gained insights into the work of Radio Rüsselsheim. They learned about broadcasting technology, produced radio jingles, and tried their hand at being presenters.

Own topics and interviews
In the following days, the young people researched their own topics, wrote radio articles and recorded them themselves.
Many segments focus on the young people's countries of origin and their lives in Germany. The program also includes interviews, for example with the women's representative of the Groß-Gerau district or a rural woman from Wallerstädten.
Promoting language and strengthening integration
The project aims to help young people overcome language barriers and develop more confidence in speaking.
Cooperation partners include the youth education center of the district of Groß-Gerau, the municipal youth work of Groß-Gerau, the Martin-Buber-School and the media education center of Radio Rüsselsheim.
The project is supported by the Sparkasse Foundation Groß-Gerau and Radio Rüsselsheim.
The program airs on May 11th
The segments will be broadcast on Monday, May 11, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Radio Rüsselsheim. Four students will be the live presenters.
The station can be reached via FM 90.9, DAB+ channel 12c and online:
