Regional culinary series in the Groß-Gerau district begins with an asparagus gala
The Gerauer Land Asparagus Days will kick off in the Groß-Gerau district on Friday, April 24, 2026. This popular series of events celebrating the regional "royal vegetable" will once again offer a wide range of culinary delights and events.
The event kicks off with the already sold-out asparagus gala at the Volkshaus Büttelborn, where top chefs from the region will present their creative asparagus dishes.
Culinary diversity and events
The "Jazz and Asparagus" event is a regular feature of the Asparagus Days festival and will take place this year on May 28th in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg. Musicians Paulo Morello and Peter Weniger are among those performing.
Furthermore, asparagus cooking classes will be offered again. Special regional menus, such as "Pure Asparagus" and "Pure Asparagus Light," also complement the culinary program.
Asparagus Queen and traditional events
A special highlight is the meeting with Asparagus Queen Siska Schupp. She will pass her crown to her successor at the asparagus festival in Büttelborn on June 7th. The traditional asparagus peeling competition is also part of the program there.
Enjoy asparagus even by bicycle
In addition to the events, three asparagus tours – South, West, and East – invite visitors to explore the Gerau asparagus region by bicycle. Along the routes, visitors can stop at restaurants or buy fresh asparagus directly from regional producers.
Information and offers on site
A flyer listing all participating businesses and events will be distributed in town halls, museums and other institutions throughout the district in the coming weeks.
All information regarding dates, offers, and cycling routes is available online. The Asparagus Days are financed through the support of regional businesses and are also intended to strengthen the local economy.
