The Eberstadt Citizens' Association invites everyone to a communal baking event at Geibel's blacksmith shop on June 27th
The next baking day organized by the "Backes" working group of the Eberstadt Citizens' Association of 1980 is approaching. On Saturday, June 27, 2026, the garden of the Geibel blacksmith shop at Oberstraße 20 will once again be transformed into a meeting place for amateur bakers and all interested parties.
Baking in a historic clay oven
Baking day begins at 10 a.m. with lighting the wood-fired clay oven and the preparations by the work group. The actual baking starts around noon. First, pizzas and tarte flambée are prepared, before the oven reaches the right temperature for baking bread around 1 p.m.
After removing the embers and ashes, the loaves of bread are placed in the oven. About an hour later, cakes are baked. The baking day is scheduled to end around 3 p.m.
Bring your own dough
Visitors can bring their own dough for bread, rolls, pizza, or cakes, along with their desired toppings, and bake them on site. The Backes Group also offers its own pizza and tarte flambée.
The freshly baked food can be eaten directly in the garden of Geibel's blacksmith shop or in the covered barn. Drinks are available for purchase.
Participation is free
Participation in the baking day is free of charge. Those who wish to support the work of the volunteer helpers can make a voluntary donation.
After the event on June 27th, the Eberstadt baking days will take a short summer break. The next baking day is scheduled for August 22nd.
