Police offer coding on September 27th – telephone registration required
The Griesheim police station is offering bicycle coding as part of the Griesheim Onion Market . Bicycles can be coded on Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the police station courtyard. Prior registration is required.
Appointments for the event will only be made on Friday, September 18th, from 8 am to 3 pm by calling 06155 8385-21 .
Please have your bicycle details ready when registering
When registering by phone, you should have your personal details as well as the manufacturer, type and frame number of your bicycle ready.
For the scheduled coding appointment, you must bring proof of identity and proof of ownership for the bicycle. Owners of e-bikes and pedelecs also need the battery key
According to the police, bicycles with carbon frames cannot be coded.
Coding as additional theft protection
The police recommend bicycle registration as a supplement to other measures against bicycle theft. These include, in particular, a robust bicycle lock and securing the bicycle to a fixed object. GPS trackers can also provide an additional security option.
Those who cannot attend the event at the onion market can find further coding events in the region on the website of the Hessian police.
