The Martinsviertel district association invites you to music, a family program and a beach party
The traditional community gathering weekend of the Martinsviertel district association (BVM) will have a new format this year. Instead of the popular community gathering with flea market, the association will be hosting a summer festival at the BVM barbecue hut in Kastanienallee in the Bürgerpark on July 31st and August 1st, 2026.
The reason for the change is a Hapkido summer camp taking place in the Bürgerpark on the traditional event weekend. Therefore, the flea market cannot be held this year.
Beach party opens the festival weekend
The summer festival kicks off on Friday, July 31st, at 4 p.m. Winkels Imbiss will be serving grilled specialties, and Moppel will be there with his crêpe and waffle cart. The Martinsviertel district association will also be running a wine and sparkling wine stand.
The beach party starts at 7 p.m. A DJ will provide music and dancing at the BVM grill hut until 11 p.m.
Family program on Saturday
Saturday begins from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a morning get-together and live music. This is followed by a family and children's program starting at 2 p.m.
Planned activities include a bouncy castle, face painting, and other surprises for young visitors. At the same time, the BVM's popular cake stall will be open, offering coffee and cake.
The summer festival ends on Saturday around 6 pm.
Flea market cancelled in 2026
Since 1990, the community gathering with flea market on the first weekend of August has been a regular fixture on the event calendar in the Martinsviertel district. However, due to the other use of the community park, the flea market has to take a break this year.
With the new summer festival, the Martinsviertel district association wants to continue the tradition of celebrating together and offer citizens a varied weekend.
