New roller doors and transparent elements improve visibility of the animals and facilitate their care
The renovation work in the wading bird hall at the Vivarium Zoo in Darmstadt is complete. Visitors can now observe the wading birds living there from new perspectives. At the same time, the conditions for animal care have been improved. The modernization was made possible by the financial support of the Darmstadt Citizens' Foundation.
During the presentation of the completed work, Frank Siemund, operations manager of the municipal enterprise for tasks and services (EAD), and Vivarium director Frederik Linti explained the innovations.
Better view of the wading birds
A significant change concerns the design of the wading bird hall. The installation of transparent elements will allow visitors to observe the birds more effectively in the future.
The new design allows for a clearer view into the hall and is intended to make visiting the zoo more attractive. This will give visitors to the vivarium new insights into the world of wading birds.
Flexible roller doors make animal care easier
In addition to improvements for the public, the renovation also brings practical benefits for the zoo's employees.
New flexible roller doors will allow for more precise temperature control inside the wading bird hall. This will enable better adjustment of the conditions within the hall.
At the same time, some of the previous workload for setting up and dismantling partitions is eliminated. This gives the zookeepers additional time for the care and feeding of the animals.
The Darmstadt Citizens' Foundation supports the renovation
The modernization was made possible through the support of the Darmstadt Citizens' Foundation.
The foundation was represented by Ulrike Heymann and Gerd Wieber at the presentation of the completed works.
The structural changes at the Vivarium combine an improved visitor experience with easier daily work in animal care.
