The municipality is calling for people to cycle together for climate protection and sustainable mobility
The municipality of Bickenbach is once again participating in the nationwide STADTRADELN. From August 22nd to September 11th, 2026, residents are invited to cover as many everyday journeys as possible by bicycle and thereby collect kilometers for their municipality.
Anyone who lives or works in Bickenbach, or is a member of a local club, can participate. The aim of the three-week campaign is to encourage the use of bicycles as often as possible as a climate-friendly mode of transport, thereby setting an example for sustainable mobility, climate protection, and a higher quality of life.
Registration is possible via the STADTRADELN website. There, interested individuals can join the open team for the municipality of Bickenbach or create their own team with at least two people. The kilometers cycled are recorded online or via the STADTRADELN app. They count towards both the Bickenbach municipality ranking and the overall result for the Darmstadt-Dieburg district.
All vehicles that are considered bicycles under the road traffic regulations are eligible to participate – including pedelecs with a motor output of up to 250 watts.
As part of the competition, the Climate Alliance is recognizing, among other things, the most bicycle-friendly municipalities and local councils in various size categories. The results will be published after the competition has concluded.
Mayor Markus Hennemann hopes for a high level of participation and encourages all interested parties to register and collect as many kilometers as possible for Bickenbach.
