Nearly 2,500 participants will continue pedaling until June 28th
The 2026 school and city cycling campaign in Darmstadt has gotten off to a successful start. Since the campaign began on June 8, the nearly 2,500 participants have already cycled more than 285,000 kilometers. This was announced by the City of Darmstadt. The interim results were recorded on June 22.
Positive interim results after two weeks
Climate protection officer Michael Kolmer is very satisfied with the progress so far.
“The kick-off event with the ADFC (General German Bicycle Club) and the subsequent bike tour was a real highlight and a lot of fun. I’m already looking forward to the next tour on September 16th. In the meantime, this is an excellent opportunity to promote the City Cycling campaign in the local area and motivate as many people as possible to get on their bikes. Let’s work together for sustainable mobility and share the joy of cycling,” said Kolmer.
Registration still possible
The campaign runs until June 28th. Interested individuals can still register, create their own teams, or join existing ones until then. After the campaign ends, registered participants will have seven days to submit their logged kilometers.
Individuals, clubs, companies, schools, and other groups can participate. The goal is to cover as many everyday journeys as possible by bicycle, thereby contributing to sustainable mobility and climate protection.
Award ceremony in September
The school and city cycling campaign concludes with an awards ceremony. The most active individual cyclists, teams, and schools will be recognized.
The award ceremony will take place on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. as part of the bicycle action day in the market square in Darmstadt city center.
Record mileage online
Registration and recording of cycled kilometers are done via the Stadtradeln website. Alternatively, routes can also be recorded via GPS using the official STADTRADELN app.
