Lectures on fast fashion and family clean-up are part of the program focusing on waste prevention and sustainable production
Climate Weeks 2026 have begun in the Groß-Gerau district . Until September 23rd, events focusing on waste prevention and sustainable production are on the program. In the coming days, topics will include the conditions in the textile industry and a litter collection event for families in the Büttelborn Forest.
On Thursday, September 17th, at 7 p.m., author and environmental activist Frank Herrmann will be a guest at the Groß-Gerau district office. His lecture is entitled "Ultra Fast Fashion – Stop Disposable Fashion".
Lecture on the textile industry
Herrmann examines the ecological and social consequences of fashion production. According to the organizers, this includes, among other things, resource consumption and working conditions in the global textile industry.
The speaker will also present alternatives to so-called fast fashion and explore the options consumers have for making their clothing consumption more sustainable. Admission to the lecture is free.
Families collect trash in the Büttelborn forest
Another event will take place on Sunday, September 20th, at 11 a.m. in the Büttelborn Forest. The "Family Adventure Clean-Up" combines a guided walk with a litter collection activity.
This activity is aimed at families. During the child-friendly tour, participants will not only collect litter but also learn more about soil life and the environment. Advance registration is required for the Family Adventure Clean-Up.
