Event at the Open House Darmstadt on April 25th
A discussion event on the future of Syria will take place in Darmstadt on Saturday, April 25, 2026. Under the title "Damascus of the Future," several organizations are hosting an exchange about perspectives for the country and Germany's role.
International Perspectives in Focus
The event begins at 3 p.m. at the Offenes Haus Darmstadt and lasts until approximately 5:30 p.m. The discussion will focus on how Syria can achieve long-term stability and what implications this has for Europe.
Discussions include the role Germany can play in reconstruction and in promoting partnerships.
Experts from science, politics and practice
Participants include the physician and spokesperson of the Syrian community in Germany, Sadiqu Al-Mousllie, the theologian and Middle East expert Sigurd Rink, the photojournalist Lutz Jäkel, and Stefan Schulz-Trieglaff from the German Society for International Cooperation.
The event will be moderated by representatives from the church and civil society.
Organizer and participation
The discussion is organized by the Protestant Deanery of Darmstadt, the Protestant City Academy of Darmstadt, and the Syriac Community in Germany. Admission is free.
