Cantata service and baroque chamber music in the city center church
The Darmstadt Baroque Festival, featuring several musical events, will take place at St. Ludwig on June 13th and 14th, 2026.
Bach cantata on June 13th
On Saturday, June 13th, at 6 pm, Johann Sebastian Bach's cantata "Liebster Jesu, mein Verlangen" BWV 32 will be the focus.
The work was first performed in 1726. The text is by Georg Christian Lehms, the court poet of Darmstadt. As a dialogue cantata, the work musically recounts the conversation between Christ and the faithful soul.
The cantata service combines music, liturgy, and communal singing.

Baroque chamber music in Sunday church service
On Sunday, June 14th, at 10 a.m., the Ensemble Incontro will provide the music for the Eucharist celebration with baroque chamber music.
The musicians specialize in historical performance practice and have been playing together since 2007.
