Darmstadt Lions Clubs support children's and youth projects with the sale – more than 500 prizes with a total value of almost 30,000 euros
Do good with an Advent calendar and have the chance to win attractive prizes at the same time: For the 16th year, the five Darmstadt Lions Clubs, together with their youth organization, the Leos, are selling the Darmstadt Lions Advent calendar. The proceeds benefit projects that support children and young people in Darmstadt and the surrounding area. The calendars are available until the end of November for five euros each at a total of 15 sales points in Darmstadt.
Each Advent calendar is also a raffle ticket. From December 1st to 24th, numerous prizes will be drawn daily. In total, more than 500 prizes with a total value of almost €30,000 await the participants.
More than 500 prizes to be won
Prizes include vouchers for restaurants, fitness offers, personal care, hotels and shopping opportunities.
Participants can find out if their calendar number has won and how to claim any prize on the Lions Advent Calendar website. The winning numbers are published there daily during Advent.
The locations of the 15 sales outlets can also be found online.
Darmstadt motifs on the Advent calendar
This year's Lions Advent calendar once again showcases a piece of Darmstadt. The focus of the image is the Porcelain Palace and St. Elisabeth Church on the edge of the Herrngarten park.
The cover illustration was created by Darmstadt illustrator Christoph Grundmann. The pictures behind the 24 calendar doors were drawn by children from the Georg Büchner School.
The calendar thus combines support for young people with an artistic contribution from students in Darmstadt.
Promoting education, exercise and health
The proceeds from the calendar sales are used by the Lions Clubs to support, in particular, children and young people from socially disadvantaged families as well as young people with a migration background.
Guided by the principle of "promoting and challenging so that children can gain new experiences," various projects in the areas of education, exercise and health are the focus.
One focus is on promoting reading. In light of the decline in reading skills found in studies, the Lions support the use of books in Darmstadt kindergartens through the "Oops, a book!" campaign.
Promoting physical activity also plays an important role. For example, a bouldering wall is supported at the Christoph Graupner School. In addition, psychomotor activities are supported for children from Ukraine.
Another project is the proven Lions program “Class 2000”, which focuses on health promotion and prevention in children.
With these programs, the Lions Clubs aim to help young people gain new experiences and develop themselves, regardless of their personal and social circumstances.
Advent calendars available for five euros
The Darmstadt Lions Advent Calendar combines a prize draw with concrete support for children and young people in the region.
Anyone who buys a calendar contributes to the financing of the projects and also has the chance to win one of more than 500 prizes.
