Frank Jährling shows well-known places in the city from unusual perspectives
The exhibition "Darmstadt Perspectives" by photographer Frank Jährling is currently on display in Darmstadt's city church. The show presents 18 large-format photographs that depict well-known buildings, squares, and landmarks of the city from unique angles. Visitors can view the exhibition until August 15, 2026.
The exhibition is part of the city church's summer cultural program and will be shown in the rooms of the city church at Kirchstraße 11.
Darmstadt from new perspectives
Frank Jährling is a native of Darmstadt and has dedicated himself to photographing his hometown for many years. His works, printed on canvas, depict familiar places from unusual perspectives and in special lighting conditions.
Among the exhibited motifs are the church tower of the city church in the morning light, Darmstadt main station at sunset, the Russian Chapel on the Mathildenhöhe with its reflection in the Lilienbecken, the Kinopolis cinema, the White Tower, the Jazz Institute in Bessungen, the Da Capo variety theater on Karolinenplatz, the diving tower at the Woog lake, and the Old Town Hall.
The cityscapes are complemented by atmospheric snapshots such as the fireworks at the end of the Heinerfest.
Love for the city and for detail
“As a resident of Darmstadt, I want to show my hometown with my pictures as I perceive it: familiar places from new perspectives, special moods and moments that make up the character of Darmstadt,” explains Frank Jährling.
The exhibition invites visitors to discover Darmstadt with new eyes and to perceive familiar places from an unusual perspective.
