Virtuoso jazz trio meets avant-garde tentet at the Bessunger Knabenschule (Bessunger Boys' School)
As part of the Darmstadt Jazz Autumn festival, the trio Glod/Ramond/Kugel and the ensemble Potsa Lotsa XL will perform together at the Bessunger Knabenschule cultural center on Friday, September 25th. The concert combines chamber music-influenced jazz with avant-garde and improvised music.
The trio Glod/Ramond/Kugel consists of saxophonist Roby Glod, double bassist Christian Ramond, and drummer Klaus Kugel. The three musicians have been working together for approximately 20 years and are active in concerts and international projects throughout Europe. They have also participated in numerous collaborations with musicians on the international jazz scene.
Her 2024 CD "No ToXiC" was positively received by the international music press. Her music focuses on chamber music structures, improvisation, and a distinctive, sometimes confrontational style of jazz.
Also appearing is Potsa Lotsa XL, a ten-member ensemble led by Berlin-based saxophonist and composer Silke Eberhard. The group moves between jazz, avant-garde, and improvised music. Emerging from the quartet Potsa Lotsa, which initially focused on the work of American multi-instrumentalist Eric Dolphy, the ensemble has developed into a distinctive sound.
In its XL lineup, Potsa Lotsa combines composed passages with collective improvisation. Ten musicians from the Berlin jazz scene create a multifaceted ensemble sound that blends precision, musical openness, and spontaneous interaction.
