Children from Bickenbach will present their self-developed play at the community center on September 26th
For the third time, the children's and youth services department of the municipality of Bickenbach is bringing a theatre education project to the stage. The play "Welcome to Breuschreck Castle" will premiere on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the Bickenbach community center. Admission is free.
Under the direction of drama teacher Sabine Orthey, children in grades four through seven have been working on the performance since January. In addition to weekly rehearsals, extra rehearsal weekends were held. The young participants' experiences and ideas have been incorporated into the development of the play.
A chaotic school class at Breuschreck Castle
The story centers on a school class that increasingly poses challenges for their teachers. Eventually, the children are sent to the infamous Breuschreck Castle.
There, they must overcome various tasks and dangers. The cohesion of the group plays a crucial role. According to the municipality, the play draws on experiences from everyday school life and combines humorous and thought-provoking elements.
Mayor Markus Hennemann particularly emphasized the children's collaborative work. They developed something original, contributed their experiences, and took on responsibility. The fact that the group worked on the performance for several months deserves recognition.
Backstage support
Young people from Bickenbach and staff from the children's and youth services are also involved in the production. Kamran and Arslan Ahmad are handling the video and sound technology as well as providing assistance. Youth worker Patrik Ebbers is taking care of the organization and set design.
The premiere will take place on September 26th at 6 pm in the Bickenbach community center. Admission is free.
