After the end of the bathing season, 97 dogs and 184 visitors came to the outdoor swimming pool – the event is to be continued in 2027
For the tenth time, the Goddelau outdoor swimming pool hosted a dog swimming event after the end of the regular swimming season. Despite the changeable weather, 97 dogs and 184 visitors the four-hour event on Sunday, September 13th.
Both the non-swimmer and swimmer pools were available for the dogs. While some animals entered the water via the wide steps, others used the pool edge or the starting blocks to jump into the swimmers' pool.
Sunbathing areas and beach volleyball courts were also used
Dogs that didn't want to go in the water could roam freely on the sunbathing areas and beach volleyball courts. Pool manager Uwe Tresch gave a positive assessment of the event, reporting that it had gone smoothly.
With the dog swimming event, the season at the Goddelau outdoor swimming pool has now officially ended. The pool staff will be preparing the facility for winter in the coming weeks.
According to the city, dog swimming will be offered again at the end of the 2027 bathing season.
