Music from five centuries on June 19, 2026 in Darmstadt
Recorder player Stefan Temmingh and baroque harpist Margret Koell will perform their program "Sound Stories" on Friday, June 19, 2026, in the Ernst-Ludwig-Saal in Darmstadt. The concert begins at 6 p.m. and is part of the Dotter Concerts series.
The program combines music from five centuries and six countries. It features a total of nine different recorders and three harps. The two musicians combine works from different eras and styles into a cohesive musical concept.
The program includes compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, Jacob van Eyck, Christoph Willibald Gluck, and Domenico Scarlatti, among others. The repertoire is complemented by a commissioned work by the Austrian composer Klaus Lang, which was recorded for the first time as part of this program.
“Sound Stories” is conceived as a musical journey through diverse soundscapes and genres. Song arrangements, sonatas, variation cycles, and dance movements are interwoven and linked together to form a continuous sonic narrative.
