Capriccioso, Tonikum and the Vocal Ensemble Rüsselsheim present a diverse choral program at the district administration office
Three ensembles from the Groß-Gerau district presented different facets of choral singing at the "Evening of Choirs" in the district administration building . Capriccioso from the Wolfskehlen Singers' Association, Tonikum, and the Rüsselsheim Vocal Ensemble were selected for the concert.
The evening was organized by the Groß-Gerau district and the Groß-Gerau Savings Bank Foundation. According to the organizers, the aim was to offer choirs from the region a platform and to highlight the diversity of singing together.
From Renaissance to Pop
The opening performance was given by Capriccioso , conducted by Yuna Jung. The ensemble's program ranged from Renaissance music to contemporary choral works. The second half included pop songs such as "What Was I Made For?", "Count on Me", and "Royals".
Tonikum, under the direction of Ulrich Diehl, presented pieces including "Shake Away," "Kings and Queens," and "You're the Voice." After the intermission, they performed songs such as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "Don't Stop Believin'."
The Rüsselsheim Vocal Ensemble, led by choirmaster Konstantin Karklisiyski, performed well-known songs such as "Can You Feel the Love Tonight," "Can't Help Falling in Love," and "Thank You for the Music." The second half of the program included "Right Here Waiting for You," "I Just Called to Say I Love You," and "You Can't Hurry Love."
Three choirs selected from application process
According to the organizers, all adult choirs based in the Groß-Gerau district were eligible to apply for the concert. A jury comprised of representatives from the two choral associations, the savings bank foundation, and the district cultural office selected the three participating ensembles.
The choirs received a fixed fee for their performance and will also participate in the proceeds of the event.
In a conversation with Oliver Lohr from the district savings bank, First District Councillor Adil Oyan and Anja Winkler from the savings bank foundation explained the background of the concert evening. The district supports choral singing, among other things, through the annual district singers' award ceremony and programs for musical youth work.
A song together to conclude the song
For the finale, all the participating choirs stood together on stage. Under the direction of Yuna Jung and with Konstantin Karklisiyski at the piano, they sang "Kein schöner Land in dieser Zeit" (No Land More Beautiful in This Time) together with the guests. The audience then thanked the ensembles with a standing ovation.
