New plantings on the media ship are expected to bloom until spring – the city asks for respectful treatment of the flowers
Even during the colder months, the area around the media ship in Weiterstadt will remain vibrant. The city has replanted the planting pyramids on the grounds. Colorful pansies will provide a cheerful sight throughout the coming winter months, bringing joy to passersby and visitors to the media ship. The selected plants are particularly hardy and can withstand even severe sub-zero temperatures.
With the new planting, the city of Weiterstadt wants to make the public surroundings of the media ship attractive even during the rather gray winter months.
Hardy flowers defy the cold
Particular emphasis was placed on the plants' resilience when selecting them. The pansies used belong to a robust, winter-hardy variety that can remain outdoors even in low temperatures.
This distinguishes them from many other flowering plants, which need to be protected or replaced as soon as the first hard frosts occur.
The pansies are intended to retain their vibrant blooms throughout the cold season and well into the following spring. This allows the plant pyramids to provide splashes of color even when many other plants have long since finished flowering.
Plant pyramids beautify the media ship
The replanting took place at the end of October. The pansies were used to prepare the existing planting pyramids on the media ship for the winter months.
The flowers are intended to help make the area more inviting, even during the darker months.
Especially in the winter months, when public green spaces often appear less colorful, flowering plants can enhance the cityscape.
The city appeals for consideration
To ensure that the new floral display lasts as long as possible, the city administration is appealing to the population.
The plants should remain in their intended location and not be damaged.
In particular, the city requests that people not tear out pansies from the plant pyramids or take them for private use.
Only if the plants remain undamaged can as many people as possible enjoy the colorful blossoms.
