Landscaping and path improvements will begin on Monday, November 2, 2026, at the Gräfenhausen-Schneppenhausen cemetery in Weiterstadt. The city plans to create a boulder garden with seating and to work on the paths in the northwestern section of the cemetery. During the construction period, visitors should expect some restrictions on access to the chapel and occasional construction noise.
The work is scheduled for calendar weeks 45 and 46 and is expected to be completed by mid-November. However, delays are possible.
Boulder garden and new seating area
The main focus of the design work is the central axis in front of the funeral hall. A boulder garden will be created there, complemented by new seating.
In addition, road construction work is being carried out in the northwestern area of the cemetery.
These measures will change the layout of the cemetery grounds. During the implementation, certain areas may be temporarily subject to restrictions.
Access to the funeral hall temporarily restricted
The direct route to the funeral hall will be particularly affected. This will be disrupted during the construction work.
In addition, cemetery visitors should expect construction noise.
The city of Weiterstadt points out that disruptive work will be interrupted during burials and funeral services. This is to ensure that the ceremonies can take place with as little disruption as possible.
Completion planned for mid-November
Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, November 2nd. According to current plans, the work should be completed within two weeks.
However, since construction work is interrupted during burials and funeral services, completion may be delayed.
