20 applications have already been received – private greening and de-sealing measures will be subsidized with up to 20,000 euros
The first project in the Griesheim Green Bonus funding program begins this week in Griesheim . A total of 20 project applications have been submitted so far. Funding is available for projects including green roofs, facades, courtyards, de-sealing of surfaces, and the installation of cisterns.
The first project includes measures to remove impervious surfaces, create green spaces, and plant trees, thus covering a large portion of the eligible measures. Applicant Eva Distler also hopes for positive effects on the urban climate: "I'm delighted that it's finally starting. Everything will finally become greener, more biodiverse, and hopefully cooler thanks to the planned measures."
Griesheimer GrünBonus covers 80 percent of the costs
Within the designated funding area, 80 percent of the planning and implementation costs can be covered. The maximum funding is €20,000 per project.
Those wishing to participate can first check on the city's website whether their property is located within the funding area and whether the planned measures are generally eligible for funding. An on-site consultation is then scheduled. Together with a commissioned planning office, it will be determined which measures can be implemented.
Matthias Dorweiler from the environmental office of the city of Griesheim points out an important prerequisite: Work may only begin once the funding application has been approved. Otherwise, funding is not possible.
The funding area includes parts of Griesheim
The designated funding area extends north to Gehaborner Straße and east to Lindenstraße. It ends at Karlstraße in the south and Groß-Gerauer Straße in the west. A detailed map is available on the City of Griesheim's website, where expressions of interest can also be submitted.
Initially, €160,000 is available for the implementation of the Green Bonus. These funds come from the Hessian Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Viticulture, Forestry, Hunting and Home Affairs and are provided through the Hessian Climate Plan.
Additional funds are earmarked for a planning office that will handle initial consultations and review grant applications. If the funding volume is insufficient during the specified program period, the city states that further funds, up to a total of €520,000, can be applied for.
