City criticizes increasing graffiti and stickers
In Weiterstadt, the number of illegal graffiti, scribbles, and stickers has been increasing significantly for months. Numerous public and private areas throughout the city and surrounding districts are affected.
Damage to buildings and natural areas
According to the city, the damage ranges from graffiti-covered building facades and bus stops to playgrounds and trees in public areas. Stickers from various football clubs are also increasingly being placed in public spaces.
The city points out that such actions constitute property damage.
Construction yard heavily burdened
For the municipal maintenance department, removing the graffiti means a considerable amount of additional work. The cleaning is time-consuming and incurs high costs. Particularly sensitive surfaces and playgrounds have to be treated with special methods and chemicals.
Mayor Niklas Gehnich strongly criticizes the development: The working hours invested are urgently needed elsewhere. Furthermore, the cleaning agents used are not very environmentally friendly.
The city is asking for information
Since the perpetrators often cannot be identified, the city is asking the public for assistance. Suspicious observations should be reported directly to the police.
