This time the picnic with hands-on activities will take place at a new location
The neighborhood cooperation group in the Pallaswiesen and Morneweg district (PaMo) invites everyone to a neighborhood picnic on Friday, September 4, 2026. From 3 pm to 6 pm, the "Picnic and Festival on the Pallaswiesen" will take place this time on the grounds between Pallaswiesen and Gräfenhäuser Straße, behind the CBF Darmstadt building.
The temporary change of location is due to the ongoing work to improve the green space at Im Tiefen See. Once the construction work is completed, the neighborhood festival will return to its traditional location.
Games and activities for families
The festival offers residents of the neighborhood the opportunity to connect with each other and with various local organizations and initiatives. The program includes children's games, activities for families, and craft projects.
Participants should bring their own picnic blanket, food, and drinks. Seating will be available for those who do not wish to or cannot sit on a blanket. Water will be provided on site.
Should the weather not cooperate on Friday, Thursday, September 10th, is planned as an alternative date.
Akdeniz: An opportunity for new contacts
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz sees the annual festival as an opportunity to discover the diverse offerings in the neighborhood. "The neighborhood festival provides a wonderful opportunity to connect with one another, make new contacts, and learn about the many options available in the district," said Akdeniz.
The event is organized by the Caritas Association Darmstadt and supported by the cooperation group, the district council, and the city of Darmstadt.
Green spaces in PaMo are being redesigned
The green spaces Pallaswiesen and the green area Im Tiefen See are currently being upgraded as part of the "Social Cohesion" .
The Pallaswiesen and Morneweg districts have been part of the federal-state urban development funding program since 2014, initially under the name "Social City" and now as "Social Cohesion".
Numerous social institutions, companies, and organizations from the neighborhood are collaborating in this cooperative group. These include, among others, Caritas, Diakonie, the German Red Cross (DRK), children's and youth facilities, other providers, and the City of Darmstadt.
