More than 70 artists will open their studios on September 26th and 27th
More than 70 artists in southern Hesse will open their studios, workshops, and galleries on September 26 and 27, 2026.During the "Open Studio Days" as part of the Southern Hesse Cultural Summer, visitors can view artworks and learn about the materials and techniques used to create them.
The exhibition covers Darmstadt and the surrounding districts of Darmstadt-Dieburg, Groß-Gerau, Offenbach, Bergstraße, and Odenwald. The spectrum ranges from painting, drawing, and photography to sculpture and ceramics, as well as printmaking, jewelry design, installations, and mixed media. Workshops, demonstrations, and hands-on activities are offered at several locations.
Printmaking and artist collective in Darmstadt
In Darmstadt, the School Printing Center is among those participating. There, children, teenagers, and adults can learn about various printing techniques and work with printing presses and water-soluble inks themselves.
The Adelung33 opening its doors. Several artistic disciplines are represented there under one roof. The program also includes an art auction to benefit a charitable cause.
Photography and printmaking in the Groß-Gerau district
In the Groß-Gerau district, the Galerie & Atelier C14 by Isabella Groth in Rüsselsheim shows photographic works on people, industrial culture and automotive history.
The Old Power Plant in Gernsheim features printmaking, sculpture, and painting. Among the works on display are woodcuts and lithographs; a demonstration of letterpress printing is also planned.
Get involved in Darmstadt-Dieburg
In the Darmstadt-Dieburg district, visitors can try their hand at sculpture with Michael Tresser Pédong in Messel. They can create their own objects from wire and solder them under his guidance. In addition, welding techniques and work with concrete, steel, and scrap metal are demonstrated.
Andrea Interschick's studio, courtyard, and natural garden in Weiterstadt become an exhibition space. Figurative painting and film projects converge there.
From graffiti to artificial intelligence
The other districts in southern Hesse also have different focuses. In Bensheim, the BÖRGARTWÖRKSTATT offers insights into graffiti, acrylic painting, paper art, and facade design. A graffiti workshop is planned, weather permitting. Atelier 2K in Gorxheimertal combines art and photography and offers spontaneous portrait sessions.
In the Offenbach district, the SALZ group in Rödermark explores artificial intelligence in art. Six artistic positions address technical, social, and aesthetic questions. At Thomis Betoncafé in Dietzenbach, on the other hand, the focus is on hand-modeled concrete sculptures.
In the Odenwald district, visitors to Creative Design24 in Fränkisch-Crumbach can design their own jewelry from various materials and recycled elements. The on-site Odenwald photo studio invites participation in a collaborative artwork.

In addition to exhibitions and talks with the artists, the program at various locations also includes performances, workshops, readings, and music. Opening hours and offerings vary depending on the studio.
