The protest march will proceed through the city center to St. Ludwig
The city of Darmstadt, a center of science and research, is calling for participation in a parade promoting equality for people with disabilities. The event will take place on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, to mark the European Day of Protest for Equality.
Route through the city center
The demonstration march starts at 5 p.m. at the market square and proceeds via Luisenplatz, the Carree and Ludwigsplatz to Wilhelminenstraße. It concludes at St. Ludwig Church, where a buffet will be offered.
Initiative from the cultural and social sector
The parade is being initiated by Nadja Soukup and Kai Schuber-Seel together with other stakeholders from the arts and social work sectors. Barbara Akdeniz is the patron of the event, which is supported by organizations including Aktion Mensch.
A symbol of diversity and inclusion
Under the motto "We are colorful, we are loud, we are strong!", the parade sets a visible example for inclusion, diversity, and social participation. The program is presented by artists from the fields of music, dance, and theater.
A colorful appearance is also planned: masks, umbrellas and parachutes are intended to characterize the city center during the parade.
