Photojournalist Angelika Kohlmeier documents political processes in the German Bundestag
Berlin photojournalist Angelika Kohlmeier will present her exhibition “PhotonenSpur und Paragraphen” at the Evangelische Stadtkirche Darmstadt April 24th to May 30th, 2026
The large-format black-and-white photographs depict political processes in the German Bundestag. The images were taken with an analog pinhole camera, which allows for long exposures lasting several hours. In this way, the movements and processes of parliamentary proceedings become visible as photographic traces.
Political processes as a photographic trace
The unusual photographic technique creates images that show political processes from a new perspective. The long exposures condense several hours of parliamentary work into a single image.
The photographs are complemented by time-lapse recordings that visitors can access via their smartphones.
Contribution to the World Design Capital 2026
The exhibition is part of the program of World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026 and sees itself as an artistic contribution to the theme of “Design for Democracy” .
The exhibition opening will take place on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 12 noon in the Protestant City Church of Darmstadt.
