A free concert series brings music to the city's neighborhoods
Darmstadt kicks off its new season of promenade concerts on May 10th. Up to 25 free open-air concerts are planned at various locations throughout the city until September 20th.
Opening in Eberstadt
The opening concert will take place in the beer garden at the community center in Darmstadt-Eberstadt. At 3 p.m., Mayor and Head of Cultural Affairs Hanno Benz will officially open the concert series. Musical accompaniment will be provided by the Darmstadt Brass Band.
The event is being organized jointly with the Eberstadt district administration and the Eberstadt beer garden.
Music on seven open-air stages
The concert series brings regional bands, musical groups, and solo artists to seven stages located near various city districts. Venues include the bandstand in the Herrngarten, the Orangerie Garden, the Rosenhöhe, and the lakeside stage at the Brentanowiese.
The series is organized jointly with local partners and the Darmstadt Music Office. The format is also supported by the Sparkasse Darmstadt and Dieburg.
Overview of the first concerts
Four events are planned for the start of the season in May:
- Sunday, May 10, 3 p.m.: Darmstadt Music Corps in the beer garden at the Eberstadt community center
- Sunday, May 17, 11 a.m.: Kranichstein Choir in the bandstand in the Herrngarten
- Sunday, May 24, 11 a.m.: ToniSwings in the Orangery Garden
- Sunday, May 31, 4 p.m.: Youth Wind Orchestra of TSG 1882 Wixhausen in Wixhausen
