Martial artist Ben Gebhardt becomes the best participant of the tournament
Great success for the SAN-TI martial arts school from Darmstadt: The team achieved top international performances at the WMAC Austrian Nationals 2026 in Wels, Austria.
Over 1000 starts at international tournaments
The tournament boasted a high-caliber field and attracted athletes from several nations. Over two days of competition, the new titleholders were determined in more than 1000 starts.
Five wins for Ben Gebhardt
Ben Gebhardt competed for SAN-TI in the disciplines of point fighting and karate kumite – with outstanding success:
- 5 first places
- 2 second places
This made him one of the most successful participants in the entire tournament. Out of a total of 386 medal winners, he took first place in the individual standings and was awarded the title of best athlete of the championship.
In addition, Gebhardt received an honorary belt for the best fight in his category.
A strong finish for the team as well
The martial arts school also held its own in the club comparison: With only one starter, SAN-TI achieved a remarkable 23rd place among all participating martial arts schools.
Coach Tino Inglese was very satisfied with his athlete's performance and considers the success an important step in his athletic development.
