Accessibility, new forms of housing and participation are the main focus
How can older people live as independently as possible and participate in social life? The next meeting of the Eberstadt Senior Citizens' Network will address these questions on Tuesday, November 17, 2026. Interested citizens, institutions, and volunteers are invited to the Geibel blacksmith shop at Oberstraße 20 from 3 to 5 p.m.
The focus will be on accessibility, communication in old age, and new forms of housing. In addition to two presentations, the event offers an opportunity to address current concerns from the neighborhood and to exchange ideas with other interested parties.
The Deaf Association provides information about accessibility
The Darmstadt Deaf Association is a guest, presenting its work and providing information about challenges in communication and social participation.
The discussion will focus particularly on how to remove barriers in the daily lives of older people. Representatives of the association will also be available to answer questions.
This issue not only affects deaf people, but is also important for older people who are increasingly confronted with limitations in their hearing ability.
New forms of housing on the grounds of the Christuskirche
Another focus of the meeting is the presentation of a possible housing project in Eberstadt.
Katharina Rogalla presents her vision for an accessible housing project, "Plus," on the grounds of the Christuskirche church. The concept aims to combine accessible living with communal amenities and opportunities for intergenerational interaction.
The proposal thus addresses the question of how living space for older people can be designed in a way that enables both independence and social contacts and mutual support.
The concept presented is a project idea. No concrete details regarding its potential implementation are yet available.
Exchange about aging in Eberstadt
In addition to the two main topics, the network meeting offers space for information from the senior citizens' network as well as for current concerns and suggestions.
The aim is to bring together people, institutions and initiatives that deal with the living conditions of older people in Eberstadt.
Citizens who have not yet participated in the meetings are also welcome.
