Darmstadt Hospital and Elisabethenstift present new name
A significant step for healthcare in the region: The merger of the Darmstadt Clinic and the AGAPLESION Elisabethenstift is progressing. In the future, the combined hospital will operate under the name "Südhessen Kliniken gGmbH".
The official launch of the integration process was presented at an event in the Centralstation in Darmstadt.

New hospital network for southern Hesse
With approximately 1,300 beds, one of the largest hospitals in Hesse is being created. The aim of the merger is to pool medical expertise and strengthen healthcare in Darmstadt and southern Hesse in the long term.
Mayor Hanno Benz emphasized that the new hospital network would create a modern and efficient structure. Representatives of the healthcare group AGAPLESION also see the project as a model that has garnered nationwide attention.

Two locations, one shared concept
The two existing buildings will remain as independent locations and will in future be managed as “Campus Mitte” (Darmstadt Clinic) and “Campus Woog” (Elisabethenstift).
While "Campus Mitte" will be further expanded as a maximum care provider, "Campus Woog" will primarily focus on elective treatments. Individual specialist departments will also be restructured and distributed between the locations.

Implementation planned by 2027
The medical merger of the two institutions is planned for 2027. Until then, the organizational structures will be gradually merged.
For patients and referring physicians, everything will remain unchanged for the time being. At the same time, measures to strengthen networking among staff will be implemented.
The merger creates a new hospital network that aims to secure and further develop healthcare in southern Hesse in the long term.
