Rainer Daub honored for his work in Ober-Beerbach
Rainer Daub has been awarded the Hessian State Medal of Honor for his many years of voluntary service. The award recognizes his commitment to the "Schwimmbad am Wäldchen Ober-Beerbach" association and the open-air swimming pool of the same name in the Seeheim-Jugenheim district.
Surprise honor at members' meeting
The award was presented on April 24, 2026, during a members' meeting. The certificate of honor was presented by Peter Schellhaas. The 63-year-old club chairman was surprised by the honor.
Daub has been at the helm of the association for around 25 years and is committed to the preservation and operation of the outdoor swimming pool. As early as 1996, he was one of the initiators who wanted to revive the disused pool.
Outdoor swimming pool as a community project
Two years after the club's founding, the "Schwimmbad am Wäldchen" (Swimming Pool at the Little Wood) was reopened in 1998. Since then, the club has been responsible for its operation during the summer months. In addition to increasing membership, a comprehensive renovation of the pool has also been completed.
The chairman's work is supported by a dedicated team.
Recognition of voluntary work
Birgit Kannegießer also emphasized the importance of commitment to the local community.
The Hessian State Honorary Certificate is awarded for special services in the voluntary sector and is one of the important awards for civic engagement in the state.
