Delivery of custom-made products is delayed again – construction halt threatened
As the city of Riedstadt reports, the renovation of the main road through the Leeheim district is threatened with further delays: the reason is the lack of delivery of urgently needed special profile sewer pipes.
Manufacturer fails to deliver despite order
The city received notification a week ago that the manufacturer would be unable to deliver the custom-made pipes for the sewer system on Geinsheimer Straße as agreed. Despite repeated inquiries, neither the reasons for the delay nor a specific delivery date have yet been provided.
The custom-made pipes were ordered in October 2025 and delivered in February 2026. They are essential for the construction project, as they provide hydraulic relief to the sewer network at shallow depths. There are no alternatives to these pipes.
Construction halt possible from June
Preparatory work can currently continue, so the planned completion of the first construction phase at the end of June 2026 still appears achievable. However, if delivery does not occur by the beginning of June, a complete construction halt is imminent.
Recurring problems are hampering the project
The renewed delay is causing considerable frustration for all involved. At the very beginning of the major project, the same manufacturer had already caused a delay of approximately six weeks due to late deliveries.
Major project underway since 2025
The comprehensive renovation of the main road through Leeheim has been underway since January 2025 and is scheduled to last five years. The aim is to renew the severely damaged state road as well as the dilapidated and undersized sewer system. Several stakeholders are involved: while the roadway belongs to the state of Hesse, the sidewalks and sewer system are the responsibility of the town and the municipal utilities.
