Accessible and inclusive extensions to the Darmstadt playground have been completed
The playground at Steinbrücker Teich in Darmstadt will be fully open again from Tuesday, June 16, 2026. As the City of Darmstadt announced, all construction work to make the facility accessible and inclusive has been successfully completed.
New gaming options for greater inclusion
As part of the project, a second wheelchair-accessible tower structure with an inclusive stainless steel slide was built, along with a new hillside obstacle course featuring balance and rope elements. Wood chips were also added to make the play areas safe and attractive.
The measures are intended to help ensure that children with and without disabilities can use the playground together.
Playground can be used without restrictions again
During the construction work, certain areas of the facility were temporarily closed. These restrictions have now been completely lifted.
“We are delighted that the playground at Steinbrücker Teich is now accessible to all children and is bringing them joy,” explains Michael Kolmer, Head of Green Spaces. The temporary closures were necessary to ensure safety during the construction phase.
With the completion of the work, all play areas can now be used again without restrictions.
