Police report 259 administrative offenses and 17 criminal offenses
As the South Hesse Police Headquarters reports, around 180 officers conducted extensive traffic controls in the Groß-Gerau district on Monday, April 20, 2026. They were supported by, among others, the Hessian riot police, the main customs office, the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility, and local public order authorities.
Numerous violations and arrests
Between 6:30 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., a total of 467 vehicles and 575 people were checked. The results: 259 administrative offenses, 17 criminal offenses, and 541 speeding violations. In addition, officers executed two arrest warrants.
Four drivers were under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In one case, a breath alcohol level of 1.78 per mille was recorded. All those involved were temporarily detained and required to undergo blood tests.
Violations of the weapons law were also recorded: One vehicle occupant was carrying a loaded blank-firing gun and brass knuckles.
Deficiencies in the transport and taxi industry
During checks of commercial traffic, including in Raunheim, a truck was stopped for exceeding the permitted height and total weight. It was prohibited from continuing its journey and a security deposit of 3600 euros was collected.
Violations were also found in the taxi and rental car sector. An ambulance had serious deficiencies in the securing of a wheelchair. In addition, several taxis had to be taken out of service due to uncalibrated taximeters or invalid driver's licenses.
Speeding violations and other offenses
Numerous violations were detected during speed checks. Among other things, drivers were found to be traveling significantly above the speed limit on rural roads near Gernsheim and in the Wallerstädten district.
A 20-year-old e-scooter rider was under the influence of cannabis and was riding a technically modified vehicle. Several criminal proceedings have been initiated against him.
Arrests on highways
On the A67 near Rüsselsheim, plainclothes officers stopped a vehicle with three people without valid residence permits. They also seized suspected stolen goods. Two of the men were taken into custody.
A man with two outstanding arrest warrants was found on the A5 near Mörfelden-Walldorf. Since he was unable to pay the outstanding fines, he was taken to a correctional facility.
School route checks without major issues
The results of school route checks in Riedstadt were positive. No serious violations were found at three schools.
