Intersection Pallaswiesenstraße/Rößlerstraße affected from June 8th
The city of Darmstadt will begin renewing the traffic signal system at the intersection of Pallaswiesenstraße and Rößlerstraße on Monday, June 8, 2026. The work will primarily focus on replacing the 27-year-old control unit of the traffic light system. The construction work is expected to last one week.
The traffic lights will be taken out of service during the work. Traffic patterns will therefore be temporarily altered.
Detour set up for left-turning traffic
During the construction period, turning left from Pallaswiesenstraße towards Gräfenhäuser Straße will be prohibited. A detour will be signposted via Im Tiefen See and Leydheckerstraße.
The city asks road users for their understanding regarding the associated restrictions.
Greater accessibility and modern technology
As part of the modernization, new acoustic signal devices will also be installed at the pedestrian crossings. These are intended to make it easier for blind and visually impaired people to cross the streets safely.
Head of Transport Paul Georg Wandrey sees the measure as part of the continuous modernization of the transport infrastructure in Darmstadt: "With the replacement of the now 27-year-old control unit, we are continuing the gradual modernization of our traffic signal systems."
Investment in road safety
According to the city, several traffic light systems have already been technically upgraded in recent months. The aim is to bring the systems up to the latest technological standards and increase road safety for all road users.
The cost of renewing the traffic light system amounts to approximately 50,000 euros.
