Student sports awards ceremony honors the achievements of young talents
As the Groß-Gerau district reports, around 100 young athletes were honored for their achievements in 2025 at the Groß-Gerau town hall on March 19, 2026. Those honored were young people who had won at least one Hessian championship title in their age group.
Special award for speed skater
Pauline Selzer from the Blau-Gelb Groß-Gerau club received a special honor. She was awarded "Young Talent of the Year 2025". The speed skater has already achieved several successes at the national and international level, including a fourth place at the Junior European Championships and several championship titles.
In addition to a trophy, she also received a check for 200 euros from the Sparkasse Foundation Groß-Gerau.
Wide range of sports
The outstanding achievements reflect the great diversity of sports in the district. Talented athletes from disciplines such as gymnastics, track and field, dance, canoeing, badminton, boules, and other sports were honored.
The supporting program also offered sporting highlights. A rope skipping show and a Latin dance performance thrilled the audience.
Recognition of commitment and achievement
The awards were presented by First County Councillor Adil Oyan together with representatives of the sports association.
Oyan praised the young athletes' achievements and emphasized the importance of commitment, discipline, and perseverance. He stated that the honored young athletes were important role models and ambassadors for their clubs and the entire district.
